Purdys Produce

Purdys Produce- Beans
Purdys Produce was started 18 years ago by Pat and John Purdy.

They have been doing numerous markets throughout the years (Vestal Farmers Market and Owego Farmers Market).

Thanks to Purdys Produce for joining us this season. Heather Browne will be helping them out and you will probably see her face most frequently at the stand at Newark Valley Farmers Market.

Purdys Produce has a wide variety of produce that they grow.

Purdys Produce-
High Tunnel
Spinach
They have a High Tunnel which is basically the same as a greenhouse except for the sides roll up giving it air movement and temperature control. The high tunnel allows them to grow produce through the entire year. You will find crops such as lettuce, spinach, turnips, swiss chard and kale growing in January and February.

This also means that they have produce in May when markets are just starting up and produce is scarce in NY. Our lovely winters make it difficult to have produce early. With their high tunnel they can get ahead of the game and have items early.
